IDEAS WANTED!

Well, I was a little afraid last week that my April Fools' stories would be a tad boring for those of you who never worked in radio. Wrong again!

Got lots of positive feedback on my attempts to bamboozle my listeners in back-to-back years while working in Hartford. I think we set a record last week in the comments section--so thanks for that!

Now the current problem: what do I do now? Craig's List? eBay? Where do I go for new ideas? I've been successfully cranking out radio, TV, and sports tales for almost eight months now and ya know what? I'm running out of 'em.

I thought we were hitting a wall a couple of months ago, until a couple of readers suggested I share some stories about my childhood; I didn't see how those would fit in, until I remembered that a mega-star from a hit television show got married on my street and that I took that bike ride one day to Stan Lee's house and shared Cokes with him.

But now I'm out of those too.

Here's an interesting note for those of you who worked with me at ABC: I got nuthin' from 21 years on 66th Street! I insulted Yankee manager Joe Torre when he was there once for a book signing which pissed off my boss to no end, but that story would take one paragraph to tell. So unless you want me to rehash the time I almost got fired for bringing a bowl of chili into the control room during a live airing of "Dancing With the Stars", I literally spent a third of my life there and don't think a Zelig moment happened even once!

But I'll keep thinking. And any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

I do have a narrative about a second time that I (unsuccessfully) tried to help a rock band break big; this one's not so much a radio/ music story, as much as a psychological profile into what can happen when you get a little too close to strangers.

It might be interesting. We'll see.

Why I Hate Watching Sports

Do I really hate watching sports? Of course not, but I figured it was a good way to hook you guys, especially those of you that, well,...

How about stories involving the arguments between your brother and your dad? They were a ZELIG type moment because they weren't planned and you couldn't predict when they would happen. The fights just happened and you were a witness/ZELIG.

`DA, most EVERYTHING that happens in life isn't planned and we can't predict when or what will happen. I think we'll need to sit down and discuss the meaning of the 'Zelig Moment'... :)
